Responsibilities Perform work that requires advanced knowledge in the application of field survey. Exercise discretion and judgment and apply survey principles to meet project challenges. Coordination of various survey and research projects, including responsibility for the daily management of field crew schedules, project plans, status reports, and coordinating due dates for various surveys. Serve as a contact for those projects with survey components. Communicate directly with Safety Coordinator for survey safety materials. Manage the team and equipment of the crew to the Company standard of quality and integrity, arranging for repairs when needed. Assess survey staff level of technical and survey knowledge. Create individual and group training plans. Quality control of the crew to monitor performance concerning morale, safety procedures, and equipment condition. Report all incident and accidents relative to the survey crews to the Safety Coordinator in a timely manner. Ensure that PPE is available, properly used, stored, maintained, and replaced when necessary. Perform as a client liaison. Manage vehicle tracking system for all the vehicles on the crew. Prepare daily production summaries and ensure they are distributed appropriately. Ensure timesheets and per diem accounts are submitted properly for survey crews. Review field survey tailgate meeting documentation for adherence to company safety policies Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment Duties are performed in office and field settings. The employee must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and extended keyboard use and reading of computer screen. Must be able to work outdoors and on construction sites, exposed to outside environmental conditions – extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, and atmospheric conditions. Must be able to work overtime and weekends to meet project demands. Position requires travel (expected to be 50%); valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk and hear. Position requires long hours and physical ability to hike through a variety of terrains while carrying equipment of approximately 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Minimum Qualifications - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to demonstrate and perform all key qualifications of a Party Chief and Senior Party Chief. Advanced knowledge in the field of energy infrastructure. The ability to maintain a great deal of interaction with clients. Thorough understanding of the practices associated with survey records research. Intermediate understanding of GIS concepts and processes, uses and operations of GPS data capture equipment and software. 3-5 years’ experience working with Civil3D and applicable line work. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in surveying or closely related field. LSIT and 8-12 years of experience, with at least 4 being in a management role. |
