Description

This position provides direction in the areas of employee relations, performance management, organizational culture and employee engagement. The Employee Relations manager will work across all functional lines within Endeavors to deliver strategic initiatives, develop, implement and manage all employee relations, performance management, management coaching, employee disciplinary matters, employee engagement and cultural initiatives. The Manager, Employee Relations will work closely with the Deputy Chief of HR, Chief Learning Officer, and Senior Director of Talent Management to provide succinct, collaborative, aligned HR Management to the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Perform employee investigations, write up results and findings, propose appropriate disciplinary actions, and coach and assist managers with disciplinary actions

 

  • Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After analyzing the information, makes recommendations on changes.

 

  • Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
  • Provide prompt attention to employee relations matters

 

  • Facilitate, advise and support the progressive disciplinary process

 

  • Work closely with legal consult on employment actions to mitigate and manage organizational risk

 

  • Partner with others and facilitate employee appreciation initiatives

 

  • Identify, help develop and deliver training that will prepare managers with additional skills

 

  • Develop and implement all employee surveys and focus groups, propose management actions

 

  • Serve as a consultant on the identification of high potential employees and succession plans

 

  • In partnership with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, serve as a consultant; develop and deliver affirmative action plans and diversity programs

 

  • Review, update, communicate and manage employment legislative changes

 

  • Research, propose and implement and consult on employee handbook updates and changes

 

  • Execute offboarding and exit interview process

 

  • Support and manage organizational change initiatives

 

  • Produce metrics/HR Dashboard for area of responsibility

 

  • Perform special projects as assigned by Chief Human Resources Officer

 

  • Demonstrate Exceptional customer service, in Everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to "Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities."

 

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field required.

 

EXPERIENCE: Four years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred.

 

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.

 

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

 

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs.

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution and compensation administration.
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.

 

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

 

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to parents, school personnel, licensing, staff and the general public. Ability to make oral presentations.

 

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

 

DECISION MAKING: Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems. Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of decisions.

 

ORGANIZATION: Ability to plan ahead several months to a year. Ability to keep various on-going projects organized and files maintained accurately. Above normal levels of concentration and memory required. Requires good time management practices and the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
