Description

SUMMARY  
The Digital Communication & Multimedia Training Coordinator will be responsible for researching the latest technology available to the South Bend Police Department, as well as implementing and managing the SoundOff Blue Print System in the officer’s vehicles.  The Digital Communication & Multimedia Training Coordinator will manage security surveillance cameras for internal and external use, video graph recruitment videos, training videos and assist in video retrieval. The Digital communication & Multimedia Training Coordinator will manage the content of the South Bend Police Department’s social media, and will coordinate interviews between the South Bend Police Department and the local news outlets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
This list represents the types of duties required by the position.  Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected. 
•    Management of Blue Print Software for the vehicle diagnostics systems in all Police vehicles.
•    Act as a Media liaison between the Police Department and the news outlets.
•    Coordinate all meetings with specialty units and media to ensure effective and informative news information.
•    Coordinate medial releases of special events from the Police Departments.
•    Continuous research of new and upcoming technology related to enhance officer safety and performance.
•    Work with administration to manage all social media updates and feeds.
•    Provide standard maintenance of all equipment.
•    Retrieval, distribution and destruction of all video surveillance in accordance to: State and Federal laws and Regulations/Statute of Limitations, Indiana’s Access to Public Laws, Local Record/Digital Media Regulations.
•    Creation of Officer training videos for continuous officer training.
•    Training department onboarding videos for new Cadets/Officers.
•    Provide training videos for the Police Department’s special divisions; DEA, ATF, K-9, DB etc. 
•    Responsible for life feed for streaming events, ceremonies, and training. 
•    Assist Officers with video retrieval for criminal investigations.
•    Roll Call video production for Officer’s review in Power DMS of ongoing updates and tracking. 
•    Research Police body camera/software and best practices.
•    Training all Officers on proper equipment use and quality effectiveness for minimal malfunctions.
•    Assist with Police Department branding.
•    Assist with unified form and logo design.
•    Assist and implement policy and procedures related to video use and detention.
•    Maintain appropriate documentation in accordance with legal and departmental requirements; testify in court when necessary.
•    Work to expand wireless video upload infrastructure as needed.
•    Technical management of security surveillance cameras for internal and external use.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
•    High School Diploma or equivalent.
•    Background in Videography a must.
•    Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED 
•    High level of good judgment and decision-making abilities. 
•    Ability to speak and train others in large groups, in addition to one-on-one training. 
•    Knowledge of computer operations, and general office practices and procedures.
•    Must be able to attend conferences as requested.
•    Must be able to pass a polygraph test that is required for employment.
•    Must maintain a felony-free record. 
•    Knowledge of confidentiality; all areas hold highly sensitive material. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
•    Valid Driver’s License required.
