Description

AstraZeneca is a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. AstraZeneca is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines.

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a graduate (M.S, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences for an internship during 2020 in the DMPK department supporting clinical and pre-clinical PK/PD, biomarker (proteomics and metabolomics) studies.

Potential intern projects:

Applications of high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) spectrometry to:

intact mass and proteomic analysis characterization of in vivo biotransformation of biologics

proteomics/metabolomics/lipidomics biomarker studies

The intern will have the opportunity to learn and utilize state-of-the-art HRAM spectrometry instruments with the goal to discover and validate clinically-relevant biomarkers or understand in vivo biotransformation of biotherapeutics. The intern is expected to perform specific experiments with minor supervision following hands-on training. Assay design and preparation for most assays will be conducted with supervision. Data analysis and interpretation will be conducted with supervision. At the end of the internship the intern is expected to give an oral presentation about their research.
