Description

GENERAL:  Responsible for completing general labor assignments in support of production operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):  Must have high school diploma or equivalent.  Must have at least one year training or education in areas related to materials testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Perform various materials testing processes, such as machining test samples, dimensional inspections, surface hardness testing, mounting and polishing test specimens, etc. with moderate supervision.

  2. Conduct other basic materials testing such as microhardness testing, surface hardness testing, tensile testing, impact testing, nondestructive testing, etc.

  3. Document results of testing for delivery to customers.

  4. Maintain good working order of equipment in compliance with all equipment manufacturers and safety requirements.

  5. Maintain clean equipment and work areas.

  6. Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lb. parts and other items from floor to waist on a frequent basis while protecting lifted items from damage.

  • Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.

  • Must be able to walk within and between areas frequently and climb stairs occasionally.

  • Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to retain instructions sufficient to perform repeat tasks successfully and with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-pace environment, despite periodic interruptions.
