Let us discuss how food is at the center of everyone's healthy life!   Description The Advocacy & Public Policy Intern will work closely with the Director of Advocacy & Public Policy and the Advocacy & Public Policy Fellow to support the creation of an advocacy strategy, perform policy research at various jurisdictional levels, and build out a contact database of stakeholders, policymakers, and advocates. The intern will manage the calendar of advocacy events in Greater Washington, and (virtually) attend events that would serve to advance our knowledge of the area that we serve and policies that could make an impact. The Intern will support the Advocacy and Public Policy team with the administration of the Client Leadership Council and other special projects as they arise. The Intern will work at a very critical and unique time in American history; unemployment is at an unprecedented high, and so too, is the demand for our services. Join the team that will be pursuing an aggressive advocacy strategy to support low-income individuals, and sadly, thousands of new clients.   Position Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Policy research; writing to various audiences; maintenance of advocacy events calendar; support Client Leadership Council programing and administration. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; highly organized and efficient, with the ability to prioritize and get things done on schedule and work under pressure to meet deadlines; ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently; proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; strong attention to detail. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical activities involve sitting for 80% of the work day. Occasionally lifts office supplies up to 15 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: At this time, we prefer the intern come into the office 1 or 2 days a week.
