Summary: The General Purpose of the Database/.NET Developer is to design, create and maintain web-based database applications following industry best practices. The personnel holding this position must have good SQL programming skills with the experience in MS SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS and SSAS. Knowledge of the insurance industry, particularly in Workers Compensation insurance is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design, architect and implement new features, modules or applications supporting and integrating with the existing platform and infrastructure.
  • Develop across the entire stack, including front-end, business layer, and database layer
  • Develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server database and db objects.
  • Write stored procedures and scripts.
  • Design and develop reports using SSRS.
  • Work with team members and other personnel in the company to identify issues & debug code.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management.


Position Requirements

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in related field; and three to seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  •  Microsoft Certification a plus.
  • A working knowledge of the needs of the insurance industry is also a plus.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have superior architectural knowledge with extensive Microsoft technology experience in the following:

  •  +3 year of experience in Programming Language: C#, Transact SQL.
  •  +3 year of experience in Web Technologies: ASP.NET, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS.
  •  +3 year of experience in Experience with SQL Server Integration Services and Reporting Services.
  •  Experience with creating ETL processes.
  •  Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012.
  •  Familiar with database architecture.
  •  Experience analyzing, editing, and transforming XML documents using XPath, XSLT, and XQuery

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Supervision Received: Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for overall adequacy in performing tasks.
