Must possess active SECRET level DOD security clearance.
Independently applies knowledge of analytical methodologies, management principles, hardware and software systems structures and operation, and aircraft systems or requirements to solve project problems. Demonstrated ability to address scientific, engineering or business objectives and to interface with and use teams in addressing project objectives. Independently uses mathematical/programmatic approaches to define, plan, organize, design, develop, modify, test, or integrate systems. Formulates design specification, interface, and documentation of systems. Researches unconventional applications in designing and developing new methodologies, modifications, or adaptations of standardized techniques. Responsible for developing project plans, guidelines, and controls.
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining primarily Windows operating system workstations and servers, including web servers. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recover-ability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Performs periodic security scans to ensure IA controls are met. Implements Information Assurance Vulnerability Management by testing and installing IA Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), IA Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVBs), and IA Vulnerability Technical Advisories (IAVTAs). Conducts IA testing and vulnerability scanning of new and existing devices and systems against DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Requirement Guides (SRGs), and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) to verify and bring IA controls to compliance. Experience in Unix/Linux systems is a plus.
Must have an operating system certification (Cisco, Windows, Microsoft or Linux) to be DoD 8570 compliant. In addition, must be IAT Level II certified with a Security+ certification. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or engineering from an accredited college or university. A total of four (4) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. Again, must meet the DoD 8570 requirements for an Information Assurance Technician II, including certification(s) in Windows operating systems.
A total of at least eight years of experience performing the above job responsibilities.
