Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Scheduler/Planner oversees the scheduling to production to ensure customer demands and requirements are able to be met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure proper scheduling of materials for production in accordance with customer demands and equipment availability. 
  • Acts as the primary contact for internal customers, ensuring proper communication of product and equipment status.
  • Maintain ERP system production schedules are accurate and up to date.
  • Utilize capacity planning tools to effectively balance workload across multiple assets and processes.
  • Manage plant planning workbenches for local manufacturing and material needed from other facilities. 
  • Initiates, coordinates and reconciles all cycle counts.
  • Act as the point of contact for other departments and management.
  • Ensure proper communication of production issues with appropriate departments.
  • Direct and coordinate daily production meetings.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or minimum 5 years related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment with multiple production processes, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • APICS certification preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive understanding of MPS, MRP and CRP.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and MRP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time without sacrificing quality of work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • General understanding of how to create and issue purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all members of the organization and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of cycle count and inventory control techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.

  • Requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Inside manufacturing office and shop floor. 
  • Exposure to production machinery noise and dust on occasion.
  • Personal protective equipment as required. (Safety shoes, safety glasses, etc)
  • May be exposed to heat and cold weather on occasion.
