Description

Summary:

Manages the quality assurance function for all aspects of the Quality System; develops implements and manages quality systems designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals systems designed to ensure continuous production.  Manages Quality Control department consisting of Quality Engineers, Quality Supervisors, in-process and finished product inspectors. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigates (and corrects) customer issues and complaints relating to quality
  • Supervises workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Provides technical and statistical expertise to teams
  • Formulates documents and maintains quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Works with product development teams to help define inspection requirements for new products
  • Creates, documents and implements inspection criteria and procedures
  • Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel within Company
  • Provides and oversees inspection activity for product throughout production cycle
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes
  • Interacts with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts
  • Maintains active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams
  • Designs, develops and implements quality control training programs
  • Facilitates quarterly ISO Management Review meetings with department heads and member of the executive staff
  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team
     
 
Position Requirements

Education:  Minimum Associates degree, preferred B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering desired.

Work Experience:  Minimum 7 years related experience required, supervisory/management experience, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma techniques, working knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply them to inspection activities, experience with developing/documenting procedures, use of Quality Engineering methods in inspection, Quality audit experience

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution skills
  • Good communication skills with people with various skill levels and technical knowledge
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office). Must possess excellent skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with SAP operating system desired
