Assistant Controller 

Description

Summary:

 

Plans and directs accounting activities within the finance department by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinates.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Preparation of annual budget.

 

  • Implement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and           performance analysis of profit centers.
  • Review monthly accounting close processes globally including analytical review of the monthly operating             results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash        balances.
  • Supervise fixed asset management.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting              cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Acts as a back-up to the payroll function.
  • Oversee US audit process.
  • Manage global accounting systems.
  • Write necessary reports.

Education and/or Experience:                                          

 

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.  CPA is preferred, but not required.  7- 10 years’ experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process.

 

Language Skills:                                           

 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:                                               

 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                        

 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:                                           

 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office and Accounting software.
