Description

SUMMARY: Under the supervision and guidance of the Teller Supervisor, Branch Manager, or the Assistant Branch Manager the Senior Teller accepts and processes transactions from the bank's customers by personal contact, mail, and night deposit. The incumbent provides assistance and guidance to other tellers. The Senior Teller is also assists the Teller Supervisor and/or Assistant Branch Manager with administrative functions. The incumbent may have limited override responsibilities. Recognize customer needs and refer to product specialists. Gaining knowledge of other areas in the bank and receiving cross-training to provide exceptional customer service is expected. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

        1.  Provide guidance to tellers in complex customer transactions. 

2.  Provide mentoring/job training to new tellers. Ensure new tellers follow procedures and policies.

3.  Contribute to achievement of branch sales goals by recognizing referral opportunities and effectively suggesting bank products. 

4.  Resolve complex customer questions relating to account problems or cash differences on transactions. 

5.  Deliver consistent exceptional customer service by displaying sincere, outgoing, and aggressive friendliness. Smiling, acknowledging every customer, introducing yourself, making eye contact, and thanking the customer are all examples. 

6.  Assist Teller Supervisor with scheduling, audits, and other branch operational duties as assigned. 

7.  Serve as back up for Vault functions.

8.  May perform EZ Teller overrides. 

9.  May open new accounts if successfully completed FSR training (formerly DC Classes).

10. Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Two (2) years previous cash handling, and/or related experience in the financial services industry experience or equivalent required (Arvest experience is preferred)
  • Completion of Teller School within 90 days required.
  • Knowledge of banking operations and general accounting preferred.

• Must be able to arrive at work on time, work on site and have regular work attendance

• Must be able to work cooperatively with other co-workers regardless of personality, presence or communication style

• Must be able to provide cordial customer service regardless of customer personality, presence or communication style

• Must be able to coordinate multiple and changing priorities

• Must be able to verbally communicate with all other associates

• Must be able to operate check encoder, coin/currency counting machine cash dispenser, branch capture, telephone, calculator, typewriter, teller machine, scanner, copier and FAX machines

• Must be able to move from department to department or bank to bank to attend meetings

• Must be able to operate personal computer keyboard in order to create reports, schedules and other appropriate documentation

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit. The associate frequently is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; kneel or crouch while filing, and reach with hands and arms.

The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 52 pounds, may also include lifting overhead.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
