Description

SUMMARY: The Equipment Finance Specialist is responsible for the effective generation, evaluation, approval, processing, closing and servicing of commercial leases.  This person must utilize the bank’s available assets to maximize the generation of revenue, profits, deposits, and plus other cross-selling opportunities.  Detailed knowledge of the many products offered is critical to allow proper evaluation of prospective customers.  The incumbent must also protect the bank by providing continual supervision of the leases under his/her accountability.  Must be an active participant in civic and public relations activities that provides new business for the bank and further development of relationships with existing customers.  The incumbent will be active in marketing all bank lending and leasing programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provide integration, effective implementation of and conformance to the commercial leasing policies of the bank.
  2. Attain objectives and goals through the extension of loans and credits to existing and new customers.
  3. Minimize lease-related credit losses, and maintain same within a targeted level.
  4. Contribute to the expansion of the bank’s deposits.
  5. Provide accurate, timely, and objective credit analyses to serve as effective guides for credit decisions.
  6. Develop and maintain an effective relationship with those sectors of the community and within the bank that offer a market potential for leases.
  7. Maintain and develop current customer base.
  8. Interview and determine desirability of applicants, including gathering all necessary information and making available all relevant information.  Decide with the customer the appropriate product for their needs.  Detailed knowledge of the many products offered is critical to allow for proper evaluation of all loan prospects. 
  9. Secure applicant’s credit information by reviewing the bank’s credit files, obtaining data from the applicant and securing external credit data from credit references.
  10. Review and analyze financial statements. 
  11. Underwrite credit requests in a prompt manner.  Exercise appropriate discretion daily to analyze data gathered and approve, deny, or recommend alternative products or services. 
  12. Calculate debt servicing, payments, and other aspects of a transaction.
  13. Daily, weekly, and monthly review of past dues and take appropriate action.
  14. Respond to and resolve customer complaints and/or questions.
  15. Attend meetings as designated by the Supervisor and assist in gathering and preparing needed data for senior management review, as requested by the Supervisor.
  16. Attend various officer meetings, peer group sessions, seminars, training programs, schools, etc. as may be directed from time-to-time.
  17. Analyze potential leasing markets to develop prospects for Equipment Finance business.
  18. Appraise collateral as required and monitor to see that the value of collateral is in concert with the division’s credit risk policies.
  19. Keep abreast of current and new regulations and competitor actions. Stay current on changes within the financial products industry.
  20. Must be able to identify the customer needs, analyze the applicant’s request and financial data, and make decision for approval or denial.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, required
  • Previous commercial lending or commercial leasing experience with emphasis in evaluation/origination of large credits; required
  • Knowledge of commercial lending and leasing required.
  • Previous experience in a banking environment; preferred

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to operate personal computer keyboard in order to create reports, schedules and other appropriate documentation

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit. The associate occasionally is required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.

The associate may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The incumbent must be able to travel occasionally/frequently by themselves within the US, including overnight, and via automobile and air.
