Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Foreman (Airfield)

Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Foreman.

The position requires working knowledge in areas of mechanical, electrical wiring and controls, plumbing, water and sewage treatment, including maintenance. P Solid skills in basic maintenance. Project management skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues. Planning, organizing, and scheduling skills. Knowledge of facility standards, codes, and regulations. Preferred experience in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Typical Duties

  1. Plans new or modified installations to effectively and efficiently construct or repair wiring, fixture, or equipment consistent with specifications and all applicable electrical codes.
  2. Provide on-site supervision and direction of work crews and advise supervisor of any personnel not performing according to procedures, policies, and schedules. Maintain time records.
  3. Review field design change requests prepared by field personnel for compliance to Contract Specifications or Design Documents.
  4. Prepares/Oversees the preparation of all mechanical related submittals.
  5. Researches and interprets codes, technical manuals, journals, etc. related to preparation and execution of Mechanical submittals.
  6. Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
  7. Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
  8. Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob.
  9. Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
  10. Cuts & threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
  11. Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
  12. Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic using hand tools and power tools.
  13. Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and calks joints.
  14. Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leading.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE

Educational and experience preferences: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of progressive experience in site work, or equivalent combination of experience and technical training or apprenticeship program.

Workers must be able to: Apply and interpret principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must be competent in beginning algebra, geometry and use of math to calculate ratio, percentage, surfaces, measures, etc.; able to read safety rules, instructions, methods and procedures in documents and mechanical drawings in order to layout work. Must be able to physically: Stoop, bend, and crouch; use hands, arms, legs fully; see well (either naturally or with correction); and lift to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
