What We Are Looking For:

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Office of Assessment & Institutional Research team as a Director of Institutional Assessment.

Reporting to the Senior Director of the Office of Assessment & Institutional Research, the Director of Institutional Assessment collaborates with University constituencies on institutional level assessment activities.  This Director is responsible for the development and implementation of measures that will be used to assess the University’s Mission, Vision, Goals and Strategies. This person is also responsible for the analysis and distribution of institutional level assessment data to executive and senior level personnel and deans. Information will be distributed via a reporting schedule and format created by the Director of Institutional Assessment, working in conjunction with personnel from Student Support Services. The Director of Institutional Assessment serves in a pivotal role while assisting executive and senior level University personnel better understand how to develop and use institutional metrics to assess the performance of their departments.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Office of Institutional Research & Assessment and University departments providing student support services in order to assist these departments in the planning, development, and use of measures to assess each department’s level of success
  • Oversee all field-testing of any new measures to assess institutional Goals & Strategies to assure the measures function as planned
  • Create and oversee the project plans and timelines for the implementation of University wide measures to assess student performance in relation to our Mission, Vision, Goals &
    Strategies
  • Manage the development and implementation of University policies and procedures related to the assessment of institutional Goals & Strategies
  • Direct the analysis of data collected via existing measures or through any new measures related to the assessment of the University’s Goals & Strategies
  • Work with student support departments to develop and maintain a yearly reporting schedule for various institutional level metrics
  • Supervise the distribution of reports related to institutional assessment to the Executive and Senior leadership team members, deans and any external accrediting bodies requesting this information
  • Lead the communication efforts for institutional assessment with the leaders of the university
  • Assist department personnel as needed with other assessment and/or research related activities

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Some level of IT experience and knowledge
  • Experience with higher education academic assessment theory and practice
  • Awareness of current trends and directions in assessment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to present assessment data clearly to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to complete projects within expected timeframes

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Doctorate degree preferred
  • A degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or degree related to educational assessment and research preferred
  • At least five years’ experience working in a higher education environment with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
  • Experience using statistical analysis software such as SPSS
  • Experience with process evaluation methods such as Six-Sigma, Lean Six-Sigma, or Baldridge
  • Experience working in an educational research environment preferred
