About Citi Bike:

New York City's bike share system, Citi Bike, is a self-service system, stocked with thousands of bikes at hundreds of stations located throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.  Citi Bike is designed to be convenient, easy-to-use and affordable for New Yorkers and visitors alike, allowing members to pick up a bike close to home or work, ride, and then return it to any station in the system.  Less than a year since the program opened, Citi Bike has proven wildly popular for New Yorkers to get around and visitors to explore the City.  

Overview of Position:

We are seeking two Junior Account Managers to help us build relationships in the tourism and hospitality industry and with businesses around New York City to boost the use of 24-hour and 7-day passes and increase sales of business memberships.  Applicants must be highly motivated self-starters and have previous sales experience.

Key Aspects of Position:

  • Communicate the basic concept and benefits of bike share to different audiences
  • Demonstrate bike features, removal and return procedures for bikes, kiosk signup and pricing
  • Determine client needs and prepares proposals based on those requirements 
  • Work with the Marketing Team to develop appropriate sales and marketing materials for tourism industry and business membership program
  • Develop and maintain positive relationship with clients
  • Collect contact information, track distribution of brochures and coupon codes and add to the NYC Bicycle Share database
  • Prepare reports and projects for the Marketing Director
  • Service existing customers
  • Assist in the preparation of special projects and special events
  • Attend industry functions as necessary
  • Follow up with clients on outstanding payments, etc.
  • Attend planning meetings as needed
  • Perform other sales-related duties as directed by the Marketing Director
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1-3 years experience in sales, preferably Hotel Sales or Convention Center Sales/or Services
  • Ability to take direction well and memorize basic facts about the system
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office (including Excel), Google Docs, and basic data entry
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • This position may require hours which exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or Marketing preferred
  • Ability and interest in riding a bike in New York City is a big plus!
