Divvy is Chicago’s new bike share system launching in Summer 2013. Under contract with the
City of Chicago Department of Transportation, Divvy is excited to announce the beginning of its operations and seeks talented individuals to assist in the general management of the bike share program leading up to system launch of 300 stations and 3000 bikes. More at DivvyBikes.com.
Overview of the Position:
Divvy is seeking an entrepreneurial Operations Management Intern who will help support all general office activities from system launch to assisting with managing the Divvy office. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with the coordination of administrative services, clerical and support services, printing, mail distribution and messenger services, telecommunications, maintenance, purchasing, and security. He/she must be able to work from our Chicago office at least 3 days a week, and may occasionally be asked to participate in weekend events along with other Divvy staff.
Employment Status: Part Time, Non-Paid Internship
Duration: Minimum 3 months summer internship. Possibility of 6 months – 1 year internship, if agreed upon by the intern and Divvy staff.
Assist in managing 4 key departments: station service department, bicycle service department, bicycle redistribution, and dispatch.
· Assist with establishing staffing plan and schedules necessary to achieve key performance indicators in each of the 4 key departments.
· Assist team in all aspects of launching Chicago Bike Share system while learning all aspects of the system. Launch activities will include:
o Assist in training on all aspects of the bike sharing system.
o Assist in obtaining facilities, vehicles and equipment to assemble and install hundreds of stations and thousands of bicycles.
o Assist with the coordination of multiple parties, including launch team, Chicago DOT, site planners, employees, and internal administration.
o Assist with training hundreds of employees on assembly and installation of bikes and stations.
o Assist in implementing established systems for health and safety, operations and data reporting.
· Assist in leading all aspects of ongoing operations for Chicago Bike Share system after launch, including:
o Assist with “Street Team” staff with bicycle redistribution, bicycle maintenance, station maintenance and cleanliness, and emergency response.
o Assist in coordination with customer service team to listen to and serve the needs of the customers.
o Assist in safe workplace conditions and OHS compliance.
o Assist in development, improvement, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
o Assist in timely and complete record keeping in all functional areas.
