Job Summary

Bicycle sharing is a sustainable, healthy, and community-based transport option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Under contract with the City of Chicago DOT, Chicago Bike Share is excited to announce the beginning of its operations  and seeks to fill several key leadership roles leading up to system launch of 300 stations and 3000 bikes.

Chicago Bike Share is seeking a results-oriented, dedicated individual to provide management and supervision of our team of rebalancing drivers, who help maintain the optimal number of available bikes and docks for our members.  This is a full-time position to start immediately with the flexibility to work occasional nights and/or weekends a must.

The Rebalancing Manager will report to the Operations and General Managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, training and supervising other rebalancing staff
  • Managing the schedule of rebalancers to ensure full coverage of all shifts
  • Reporting on rebalancing metrics and staff performance
  • Developing and implementing driver safety program
  • Conducting periodic in-field staff evaluations
  • Reviewing vehicle check in and check out forms, and shift reports from dispatchers
  • Assist Operations and General Manager with strategic planning for the department
  • Develop and implement employee rewards program in consultation with Administrative Manager
  • Work with station tech and service departments on cross training of staff
  • Participate in weekly senior staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

• Experience in staff management
• High school diploma or equivalency, college degree a plus
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Knowledge of Chicago geography/street layout
• Skilled in standard office productivity software, such as Microsoft Office.
• Flexible to work various shifts, as assigned.
• Interpersonal skills - the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
• Adaptability - the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• Dependability - the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
• Positive attitude and sense of humor a must.
