Position Central Sterile Processing Technician  

Location Kittitas Valley Healthcare - Hospital  

Description

This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, and distributed in accordance with governing directives, as well as, tracked in a quality and timely manner throughout the hospital and clinical areas.  This position requires the ability to work independently, with confidence, and little to no supervision.  Position is responsible for exercising proper ethics and etiquette when interacting with customers and staff.  Additionally, he/she is responsible to act as a functional area expert on Central Sterile related issues, and acts as a resource for Central Sterile customers.

 

Position Requirements

Minimum Education

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of Central Services, Surgical Technology, or equivalent program preferred (e.g. military technical training school, Hospital CS or OR Internship).  Certificate to be obtained within 9-months of hire.

Minimum Experience

  • 2-5 years experience in Central Sterile department or in a Surgical Technician role..

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge and handling of medical/surgical instruments as well as their intended use.
  • Working knowledge of basic Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology.
  • Firm understanding of decontamination guidelines, principles and practices.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to operate diverse sterilization equipment such as pressurized sterilizers and HLD machinery.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with KVH Standards of Conduct.
  • Must practice good time management, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned duties.
  • Must be versatile and have the ability to adapt to change.
  • In OR assistance for questions regarding instrumentation and proper use.  Knowledge of OR sterile technique (i.e. opening instruments/supplies on the sterile field). 
  • Accurately maintains comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control in a sterile environment.
  • Other related duties, flexible hours, and overtime may be required.

Required Certification/Licensing/Registration

  • CRCST preferred, or, (May acquire within 9 months of assignment to this position)
  • BLS (Required)

Required Computer Expertise

  • Microsoft office products
  • Knowledge of enterprise software systems desirable (Paragon,Cerner,etc)

Required Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills

  • Able to manage conflicting priorities to an acceptable outcome
  • Solution based decision making
  • Ability to implement system/process changes with staff buy-in
 

Compensation $12.64 - $15.88  

Shifts 8-hour Days 

FTE 1.0 (40 hours/week) 

Additional Information **10:30a - 7:00p**
