Firmware Engineering Manager

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Firmware, come explore this exciting opportunity at Aclara where the successful candidate is will be a hands-on manager.  The key to this role is to spearhead the development efforts, coordinate the various team members, and provide technical leadership and expertise to organize and guide all aspects of firmware development. 

 

Essential functions & responsibilities of the Firmware Engineering Manager include:

  • Supervise and manage firmware the development team
  • Assign tasks to team members, and review individual and team performance
  • Document, monitor and improve the firmware process
  • Participate in hardware, firmware and software development activities as a strong technical lead
  • Develop, track and publish metrics
  • Schedule and monitor design, code and test plan reviews
  • Develop new techniques and apply existing techniques for designing and developing high reliability firmware
  • Institute appropriate formal methods and procedures, including training as necessary
  • Resolve conflicts, remove roadblocks, get answers to questions and concerns
  • Develop and maintain project activity lists and schedules
  • Facilitate project-related communications with other departments
  • Support company business needs, strategy and vision

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Continually evaluate new technologies, look for technical advancements
  • Keep cognizant of emerging technologies and markets
  • Participate in industry standards development where appropriate
  • Perform initial evaluations of relevant new technologies
  • Contribute to budget planning and tracking
  • Coordinate work with other departments, including Software Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Customer Support, and Manufacturing

 

 

 
Position Requirements

 

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree is required, as is three (3) or more years’ experience in a lead or management role. Candidates must have four (4) or more years’ experience in analysis, design, coding, and testing assembler and C code for micro controllers and advanced knowledge of embedded C programming to be considered.
