Description

Summary:

Develop, document, and/or update basic, intermediate and advanced language courses following the principles of ISD. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to developing new and update existing language courses to meet NSA/CSS language training requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and/or update basic, intermediate and advanced language courses for platform and e-learning delivery;
  • Follow Instructional System Design (ISD) principles while focusing on translation, grammar, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and non-standard language usage;
  • Prepare instructor and student training materials and create cutting-edge language training activities;
  • Assist in the development, organization, and articulation of language expectations to support the training activities;
  • Conduct the research necessary to develop and revise training courses and prepare appropriate training catalogs for Language Instructors;
  • Clarify and state course objectives and language levels;
  • Provide course materials in a variety of teaching modes that can be used by more than one presenter;
  • Define best mode of delivery (i.e. platform, blended, e-Learning, or self-paced);
  • Develop assessment plans and placement tests;
  • Ensure that all course materials are developed and documented according to ADET Instruction I-04;
  • Assist other Instructors and Developers with the design, development and documentation of language courses; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Position Requirements

Required Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or graduate level education in the Language, Area Studies, Teaching, ISD, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) level 3 in the Target Language and an advanced working proficiency in English (ILR level 2 based on the DLPT 4);
  • Fully knowledgeable of the target culture and current usage of the target language;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience in language education, methodology and adult education;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of combined experience developing language courses for platform delivery from refresher through advanced (post-graduate) levels, focusing on translation, grammar, oral comprehension, reading comprehension, and non-standard language usage;
  • Minimum five (5) years of combined experience developing, documenting and/or updating basic, intermediate, and advanced language courses following the principles of ISD;
  • Experience with curriculum development, course materials preparation, and course delivery; and
  • Able to work creatively, independently and with minimum guidance

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience developing Web-based, instructionally sound student materials for platform and e-learning delivery from refresher through advanced levels, using Web development tools such as Macromedia products (Dreamweaver);
  • Minimum of two (2) year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite; and
  • Minimum of one (1) year of combined experience preparing and presenting language platform instruction to Military/Government students

Citizenship:

U.S. Citizenship required.

Security Clearance:

TS/SCI clearance with current SSBI and CI Polygraph.
