Description Summary
Pashto Cryptologic Linguists in the Language Professional labor category shall perform voice tasks; scanning materials to identify items that require further processing; categorizing and prioritizing materials for further processing; recover EEIs; and providing gists, extracts, full, and verbatim transcripts.
They shall also perform graphic tasks which will involve scanning written materials to identify items that require further processing; performing further processing of material in the format required, and producing translations of printed materials.

Job Description:
• Transcribe spoken language into either target language or a machine-compatible transliteration system
• Translate spoken language or graphic materials into modern American English in either verbatim or gisted format
• Categorize, prioritize, and scan foreign materials and assign disposition codes in accordance with established guidance
• Draft of SIGINT report as requested
• Review and analyze foreign language materials in light of other source information
• Perform Quality Control of sub-level 3 material may be required.
• Share language expertise
• Participate in analyst-to-analyst exchanges, seminars, and conferences
• Travel in support of the above tasks when requested
• Other duties as assigned  

Position Requirements Required Education:
• Minimum HS/GED is required. Having an AA is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:
Language Professional Linguists shall have the linguistic proficiency necessary and skills required to perform the assigned voice and/or graphic tasks with minimal supervision. Language professional personnel shall be able, with minimal supervision, to compile and update operational working aids and databases.

• Minimum of 4 years total cryptologic and/or relevant experience and 4 years of experience with Signals Intelligence (SIGINT)
• Minimum of a level 3 in Pashto in the required skills (translation from audio or graphic material) defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR)
• Sufficient English speaking skills to effectively produce well-written and accurate gists, summaries, translation, and reports in American English
• Excellent command of the foreign language and the specific knowledge, talent, and skills necessary to function independently
• Extensive experience in language, literature, linguistics, or related humanistic fields
• Basic data entry and word processing skills and the ability to use advanced language software programs
• Basic Internet research skills

Citizenship:
US Citizenship required

Clearance:
TS/SCI clearance with current SSBI and CI Polygraph required
