Description Summary
Native Arabic-Gulf Cryptologic Linguists shall perform voice tasks; providing gists, summaries, extracts, full, and verbatim transcripts, and English translations; and shall provide on-line assistance to other operational linguists. They shall also perform graphic tasks which will involve translation of materials from a variety of written communications, and production of summaries from written materials. Native Linguists shall perform quality control as required.

Job Description:
• Transcribe spoken language into either target language or a machine-compatible transliteration system
• Translate spoken language or graphic materials into modern American English in either verbatim or gisted format
• Categorize, prioritize, and scan foreign materials and assign disposition codes in accordance with established guidance
• Draft of SIGINT report as requested
• Review and analyze foreign language materials in light of other source information
• Provide quality control of translated (verbatim and/or gisted) sub-level 3 materials
• Share language expertise
• Participate in analyst-to-analyst exchanges, seminars, and conferences
• Travel in support of the above tasks when requested
• Other duties as assigned  

Position Requirements Required Education:
• Minimum HS/GED is required. Having an AA is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:
Native Arabic-Gulf Linguists' superior language capabilities shall allow them to work largely independently after a short period of target familiarization and training. Basic internet research skills and an understanding of telecommunications and computer fundamentals are also desired, although not required.

• No cryptologic and/or relevant experience with Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) required
• Minimum of a level 3/3 in the required skills (translation, listening, reading) defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR)
• Shall have learned Arabic (Gulf Dialect) since birth through formal education at the secondary level in a country where the target language is an official or national language
• Full mastery of the Gulf Dialect (oral fluency and literacy) and full understanding of his/her cultural heritage
• Sufficient English speaking skills to effectively produce well-written and accurate gists, summaries, translation, and reports in American English
• Excellent command of the grammar, constructions, and syntax of the foreign language
• Shall be abreast of idioms, colloquialisms, and slang, and have a sophisticated understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment in which the language is used in order to preserve and convey the flavor, nuances and subtleties of the original text and interpret and translate passages that are difficult to understand, due to the specific nature or complexity of the language used.

TS/SCI clearance with current SSBI and CI Polygraph required
