VertMarkets, a business-to-business (B2B) publisher, is seeking an associate editor to manage, edit, and write content for our Med Device Online, Photonics Online, and RF Globalnet websites and related publications. The successful applicant will be intrigued by technology and be able to craft compelling content on topics that can at times be very technical. As an associate editor, you will play a vital role on the editorial team with the primary responsibility to solicit, edit, and create engaging, reader-focused original content to AP standards. Other responsibilities include managing a group of regular contributors, and building and managing our presence on the social web, including Twitter and LinkedIn. Additionally, you will play a role in the optimization of our email newsletters and providing coverage of industry events. To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following: - 2+ years editorial experience with excellent writing, proofreading, and copy editing skills
- Experience leveraging copywriting to improve relevancy and engagement
- Excellent prioritization skills
- High attention to detail and have proven experience of hardiness and hitting deadlines
- Ability to travel up to 10-15 days of the year
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Self-motivation (does not require heavy supervisor labor)
Preferred candidates will also have: - A degree in journalism or similar discipline
- 2+ years in a B2B publishing environment
- 2+ years of prolific writing experience with SEO and web content creation knowledge
- Strong understanding of HTML
- Experience leveraging social media to engage readers
- Experience following a style guide
- Demonstrated management or leadership responsibilities
- Comfortable in a highly structured environment
