To assist in the Product and Process Development for Foodservice, Industrial, Contracting Packing, and Export businesses for the core technologies of Ventura Foods LLC. This position will also have responsibility executing cost savings opportunities though formula cost savings, ingredients alternatives and consolidation, process optimization and formula and SKU consolidations. This position will work closely with cross functional teams to complete projects in a timely manner. Responsible for identifying and managing minor and major ingredient and formula cost savings initiatives for all of Ventura Foods owned core technologies and categories. Will be responsible to fully commercialize cost saving ideas, including supporting Operations with start up of production when required. Communication within Technical and Operation organizations required. Responsible for project tracking and proper documentation for Formulas, processing procedures, analytical information, control sample, and all other pertinent information to R&D Services, sales, marketing, and the manufacturing facilities. May be responsible for assisting in the commercialization of major projects and managing the commercialization of minor projects. May be required to be present at any of our manufacturing plants for initial production start up and for any production thereafter as deemed necessary. Responsible for any communications with Ventura Foods, Sales, Operations, QA, and the Technical and/or Culinary groups as it relates to projects. Must provide critical communication to technical management as required. Keep project management updated through Citrix Responsible for initiating the monitoring, testing, and reporting of any analytical and shelf life stability testing. Responsible for assisting and managing Innovation projects by evaluating new ingredients, process, technologies, and category platforms to support Innovation funnel. Will work with Director R & D Innovation, Package Engineer, Marketing counterparts. Responsible for maintaining a clean and well organized work area. May be required to gather critical ingredients or packaging from the manufacturing facilities as required to support project work. May be required to travel and trouble shoot issues at manufacturing plants or make customer visits as required.
Must possess a Bachelor's degree minimum in Food Science or related fields or have a minimum of 5 years product development experience. An understanding of emulsion technology, dry blend technology, flavor development, and the basic science of process technology. Must be able to manage projects from bench to commercialization. Must possess a basic understanding and knowledge of ingredient interactions. Must be able to support formula justifications with Sensory testing as appropriate. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and have a good working understanding of spreadsheet and project software.
