Description Responsible for the overall development, implementation and continuous improvement of Risk Management Program and Pross Safety Management Program across all of Ventura Foods operations. Delivers compliance expectations and drives the PSM / RMP program to world class standards.

Position will support 11 manufacturing facilities throughout the US and requires extensive knowledge of refrigeration concepts, practices, procedures, and processes. Must manage, communicate and facilitate Corporate PSM / RMP programs to be implemented at all company sites and assist with overall safety and health management systems and programs within VF.

This position will educate Ventura Foods employees on difficult, technical information in a manner that will encourage employees to improve safety and environmental performance. The position is located in the Brea, CA Headquarters office with travel as required to the manufacturing facilities.

• Ensure Ventura Foods compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements pertaining to RMP / PSM programs.
• Develop and implement company wide PSM / RMP format to be used at all facilities.
• Liaises with and between various site management and EHS professionals and government agencies.
• Conducts internal audits and participates in external regulatory audits of PSM / RMP programs.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise on requirements of EHS regulations, keeping local management informed of legislative updates and the necessary actions.
• Develop and implement plans, programs, processes and documented procedures for incident-free operations and reduction of risk.
• Identify trends in incidents and near miss reports, ensure actions are completed to address root causes.
• Oversee and enhance application of incident investigation process and lessons learned.
• Provide corrective training on identified weaknesses.
• Responsible for coaching/developing/managing/appraising facility EHS team members.
• Provides technical and regulatory input to proposed capital projects and facilities expansions.
• Authority and obligation to promote EHS principles and compliance with business unit management and higher if considered needed.
• Negotiate with regulatory agencies concerning conditions that may impact various facilities.
• On a time available basis; assist Plant and Company personnel in improving existing EHS programs, including but not limited to: chemical safety, electrical safety, contractor EHS management, industrial hygiene, LOTO, PPE, Hot Work, hazardous waste management, air emissions management and wastewater treatment.




 
Position Requirements • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (engineering, environmental science, safety, industrial hygiene, etc.) or equivalent experience, and a minimum of eight years of experience in the safety and/or environmental field. Multi-plant experience in the food, chemical, or related PSM-regulated facilities preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a complete technical and working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 PSM and EPA's Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance regulations.
• Ammonia Refrigeration knowledge and experience required. PSM/RMP training and successful completion of Refrigeration Operator I & II training courses is preferred.
• Demonstrated skills with developing and improving PSM / RMP Programs, culture improvements, behavioral-based safety, training, waste minimization, EHS regulations and compliance.
• Must have strong strategic influencing skills and be a results based individual. Be able to create strategies and guidance to site EHS leads, lead cross-functional teams and possess solid project management skills.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with EHS Management systems and processes
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
• Specific experience with CalARP regulations is desired.
