Description of Job

As our Exchange Technician you will be required to work under the Hines VA Enterprise Messaging Services (EMS) contract, The CSSS.NET Team supports an infrastructure that provides e-mail services for approximately 300,000 VA customers located across all 50 States and Puerto Rico.  The physical infrastructure consists of well-connected private wide area network that connects 22 physical sites, across which are a total of approximately 850 messaging-related Servers.  The messaging infrastructure is based on the Windows Server 2003 platform with Active Directory, Exchange Server 2003, Exchange Server 2007, and Blackberry Enterprise Servers.  Microsoft Operations Manager is used in a distributed architecture to automatically generate alert messages via e-mail to quickly provide data about possible problems with one or more aspects of the infrastructure.

 
Position Requirements

Experience Requirements

  • Complete Level II & III, 24/7 Enterprise e-mail support (over 500 servers, 300,000 users)
  • Exchange storage management – space and performance on the Clusters and SANS, offline defragmentation of databases.
  • Responsible for maximizing system uptime, supporting disaster recovery efforts, and ensuring that all sites are compliant with the latest anti-virus protection and patches.
  • Maintains network performance by installing new software, performing upgrades and maintenance, and repairing LAN/WAN hardware
  • Reports – complete documented solution for performance and uptime
  • Assist with back up and restores
  • Support of Enterprise Blackberry System, hand-held units and servers
  • Monitoring and reporting on complete EMS infrastructure  

Experience and Knowledge

  • Microsoft BackOffice products – Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, and Systems Management Server.
  • Apply multidisciplinary skills to resolve enterprise-wide IT problems
  • Experience in Enterprise Exchange  2003 environments
  • Knowledge in use of Remedy Action request system
  • Experience with Microsoft clustering technologies
  • Knowledge of Exchange migration techniques
  • Knowledge of Back up applications and topologies
  • Knowledge with Blackberry Exchange Server (BES) is a plus
  • May provide 24/7 on call support
  • SMS/MOM/STAT/TSM is desired, but not required

Clearance Requirements

  • Individuals selected, shall be subject to a background investigation and must receive a favorable adjudication from the VA Office of Security and Law Enforcement prior to project performance.

Certification Requirements

  • Position requires a minimum of five years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering preferred or 5 years of specialized experience in Lieu of degree.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) 2000/2003 is desired.
