Description

National General Insurance is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and energetic Human Resources Manager for its downtown Cleveland, OH office.

HR Manager will act as a Strategic HR Business Partner and lead both strategic and tactical Human Resources initiatives and be responsible for leading a team of two including an HR Business Partner and HR Coordinator.

This is a highly visible position and the selected candidate must be able to balance identifying HR/Business needs and then rolling up their sleeves to execute on daily actions/tasks alongside the team.

Provide day to day performance management, HR policy guidance and interpretation to leaders including but not limited to coaching, counseling, and career development.

 

Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations.

 

Investigate all EEO charges, prepare necessary documentation to reply to such charges, partner with inside/outside counsel and maintain confidentiality with regard to HR issues.

 

Develop and conduct leadership training for a variety of HR related topics.

 

Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to include the writing and revising of HR Policies, Job Descriptions and other HR related guidelines.

 

Coordinate and assist in recruitment efforts and new hire orientation.

 

 

 

 

 

Position Requirements
  • Selected candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 7 to 10 years experience in HR including 3+ years in HR Leadership roles.  PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services or Insurance industry is a plus and supporting customer contact groups (i.e. call centers).
  • Must have demonstrated expertise in employee relations, recruiting, compensation, training performance management, HR best practices etc.  
  • Must be able to handle multiple and changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to handle all levels of HR responsibilities and be viewed as an extension of the Cleveland based senior leadership team
  • Must be proficient with MSOffice products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpt.  Familiarity or knowledge of Workday HRIS system is a plus.
