Description

An Assistant Station Managers main responsibility is to assist the Station Manager in the efficient running of all aspects of the station. The Assistant Station Manager is expected to acquire and maintain a thorough working knowledge of HSE Integrated Health and Safety Policies and Job Procedures as well as applicable government laws and regulations and Industry Recommended Practices.

Duties/Responsibilities

  •  Participate in the HSE Integrated Safety Program and comply with all applicable safety responsibilities as laid out in the HSE Integrated Health & Safety Administration Manual.
  •  Understand, comply with and promote all the policies and procedures in the HSE Integrated Procedures and Technical Manual.
  •  Assist with the development and continuous improvement of the HSE Integrated Procedures and Technical Manual. Provide feedback and participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee if requested to do so.
  •  Lead, demonstrate and encourage a positive safety culture, where safety is an integral element to every task.
  •  Assist with the new hire orientation of personnel including Driver Evaluation, WHMIS, TDG, Fit Testing, Code Seminar, and the distribution of the Procedures and Technical Manual and guidance in its use.
  •  Guide and assist personnel with understanding and taking full advantage of the Competency and Promotion Program including assistance in maintaining an up to date data base on individual employee’s training and proficiencies.
  •  Effectively listen to and guide field staff in terms of questions, concerns and helping them to fully understanding their job responsibilities.
  •  Acquire and maintain at least a basic competency and understanding in all divisions of HSE Integrated business including Air, Fire and Medical.
  •  Work an assigned schedule as developed with the Station Manager.
  •  Respond to contacts from clients for information and job dispatching with emphasis on the following:
  •  Maintain a mature and professional attitude at all times. This includes remaining alert and clear-headed during evenings and weekends away from the office.
  •  Maintain a thorough knowledge of all HSE Integrated products and services.
  •  Be prepared to offer a client products and/or services which he may not have requested but you feel he may require. (extra SCBA, water assist, rescue personnel, etc.)
  •  Accurately record all pertinent information on call sheet.
 

Position Requirements
  • Strong background in company operations including knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Strong communication, organization and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to provide mentorship, guidance and training to station personnel
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ensure employees have the tools and training required to meet customers needs
  • Previous managerial experience is also an asset
