Under the general supervision of the CEO, the CFO is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the organization’s fiscal affairs.   Ensures proper recording, summary, and analysis of financial transactions for multiple business units, handles accounting transaction review, document verification, and maintains chart of accounts.  Responsibilities include budget management and control, accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting, and oversight of internal controls.  Works directly with CEO and Board.


  • Administers the Accounting Department for multiple business units in accordance with GAAP and AICPA standards.  Monitors systems to ensure financial systems comply with generally approved accounting principles and accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Maintains all aspects of financial accounting including but not limited to maintenance of general ledger accounts, account reconciliation, cash management, investment tracking and payroll. Produces monthly financial statements and prepares analytical review for Board Leadership and internal customers.
  • Supervises Accounting Department staff.
  • Reviews and establishes financial policies and procedures.  Recommends new or revised policies to CEO and Board of Directors for approval. 
  • Participates in corporate decisions involving major operating policy and strategic issues.  Develops and presents short and long term financial plans including forecasts, financial trends and other strategic considerations for management and department use.
  • Plans and administers annual budgeting process so as to assure operating income meets or exceeds expenses and the balance sheet remains in strong financial condition.  Performs monthly, quarterly, mid-year and annual review of finances for Board of Directors.  Prepares reports as needed for grantors and funders.
  • Manages the annual audit.
  • Provides staff support for financial committees established by the Board.  This support includes, but is not limited to, preparing minutes, developing financial forecasts and reviewing investment policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements


At least 3-5 years of public or private accounting experience with proven ability to produce timely and accurate financial statements.  Progressively responsible experience and competence in the following areas:  business practices and theory, accounting theory (practices and systems), investment analysis, forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning and management skills.    Must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.  Strong written and oral communication skills including ability to make presentations to Board of Directors.  Must be able to travel at least once per month.


BS/BA Degree with concentration in accounting or financial management.  MBA or CPA preferred.
