Under the general direction of the Epidemiology Supervisor at the California Department of Public Health Immunization Branch, Epidemiology and Surveillance Section the incumbent performs a variety of duties related to a special project on enhanced measles surveillance including data entry, quality review, and queries. The incumbent also assist in testing and implementation of electronic data collection tools for measles cases and contacts to measles cases. This position is part-time (44% FTE) temporary with funding available through July 31, 2013, or longer if additional grant funding is available.


  • Work under the direction of the Epidemiology Supervisor to develop and/or update CalREDIE electronic surveillance forms. Assist with CalREDIE new form tracking and testing.
  • Data entry, data cleaning and records management of measles case and contact report forms
  • Request and review medical records and contact investigation records and abstracts pertinent information.
  • Contributes to regular measles surveillance activities including case and contact investigations.
  • Other duties as required by the supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience with health information or medical record management is desired.
  • Familiarity with Windows computers is necessary;
  • Experience with Access, Excel, R or SAS is highly desirable.
