Location IL, Chicago  

Description

To provide hands on  claims handling expertise for the Professional and Executive Liability lines of business.  We are looking for a person who can grow in experience and responsibility.

 

  • Handle all aspects of these specialty line claims including investigation, coverage analysis, claim action planning, exposure evaluation and settlement negotiations
  • Well versed in litigation handling and management.
  • Be a contributor to the program team to assist in meeting team objectives.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of claims management
  • Work with underwriting as technical risk management support in the renewal process  
  • Communicate with MGAs, agents and insureds on coverage issues
  • Work closely with the Reinsurance brokers and carriers to ensure compliance with treaty requirements.

 

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years’ of experience in Professional Liability claims
  • Working knowledge in Professional and Executive  claims handling
  • BA or BS degree; JD or MBA, preferred
  • Insurance industry designation, a plus
  • Knowledge of various policy forms (including claims made and reported)
  • Good understanding of current legal trends and rulings in the particular coverage lines
  • General understanding of additional product lines including GL, Auto, Package, Umbrella and public entity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with management,  MGAs,  agents and insured
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform in a fast paced environment
  • Financial management capability
  • Familiarity with Actuarial and Claims reports
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Travel, as required, approximately 20%
