The individual in this position should demonstrate a high quality of service to policyholders in the handling a property losses up to $100,000 and under all types of coverage.  The position requires an individual to work independently with some oversight and with the full understanding of all company policies and procedures.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of field and/or office experience.  Experience in the handling of losses and a claim under any of the Company’s policy forms is required.  This position requires a working knowledge of the construction, accounting and legal protocols that are associated with the handling of all property losses.  This position requires the individual to have a good working knowledge in the use of computers and related software, particularly the resources needed to communicate, received and evaluates all electronic media along with a good working knowledge of the “Internet” for research and information gathering.

This person will be required to be licensed in every state requiring a license to handle property losses.



Should be able to work with contractors in determining the scope of damage and related cost.  Needs to have the expertise in working with Xactimate, the leading software publisher, in our industry in the preparation of estimates and the receipt of contractor’s estimates for analysis and adjustment.  The level of expertise includes the ability to write an estimate up $100,000 as it pertains to structures.


An individual in this job description is required to adjust all losses under the Business Income and Extra Expense coverage of the policy experience in accounting is required to at least the level of understanding all terms and procedures in developing financial statements and tax returns. 

Needs to be able to understand data for the projection of loss under the Business Income and communicate effectively those findings to the policyholder.





Understanding of the basic legal terms, statues and legal procedures is required.


Should be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with a high degree of professionalism particularly in the writing of letters and/or memos to policyholders, oversight authorities, and to the claims file.




None Required, except in the event of a Catastrophe Event which might require time in the field as determined by the Catastrophe Manager.


Handle the loss adjustment from start to finish, either establishing the initial contact with the policyholder or taking over the handling if started by another adjuster.  This includes the determination of coverage, investigation into the cause and origin, scope of damage for reserve purposes and brings the loss adjustment to its proper conclusion. 

Will be responsible for the solicitation of all experts, including legal, and the management of those services including cost management.


This individual reports directly to the Property Unit Manager


Continuing Education in accordance with their Texas Adjuster License.
