Position Claims Assistant  
Location TX, Dallas  

This position will provide support to the claims adjusters in the handling of their claims. They provide whatever assistance is requested by the adjuster which does not involve the direct adjustment of the claim. The claims assistants will make loss and expense payments as requested by the adjusters. They will make assignments to appraisers as requested by the physical damages adjusters. They will assist claimants and insured’'s in securing rental vehicles as requested by the claims adjusters. They will respond to agent inquiries as directed by the adjuster. They assist in the assignment of Copart for handling of total losses and in the processing of total loss recovery checks. They will assist in the adjuster with mailing correspondence and in the filing of documents in ANA Manager.


Essential Job Functions

  • Issuance of claim and expense checks
  • Requesting stop payments on checks
  • Requesting police reports
  • Completion of SIU assignment sheet
  • Request policies
  • Send copies of file materials and policies to defense or coverage counsel
  • Request W-9 forms
  • Assist agents with inquiries regarding claim statu
  • Completion and mailing of form letters
  • ISO indexing
  • Faxing materials to adjusters as needed
  • Performs data entry functions (claim checks, claim file updates, forms, form letters, electronic interfaces, etc.) as directed by claims adjuster or supervisor.
  • Receives and/or returns telephone calls as directed by claims adjuster.
  • Performs general maintenance of claims documents in the claim files.
  • Other tasks as assigned by adjusters or supervisor.
Position Requirements


  • High school diploma. 
  • Some college or bachelors degree is preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years experience in an insurance claims department or related experience
  • Ability to take direction and make decisions.
  • Self organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to learn new procedures quickly and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Professional telephone demeanor and good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of business technology.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
