Actuarial Analyst

Position Actuarial Analyst  
Location CT, Rocky Hill  

SUMMARY: Position for an actuary to support the unit in pricing model maintenance, data collection, and other actuarial research and development projects for AmTrust Underwriters Inc. Pricing experience with four major lines of business is required.

Some actuarial exams required. ACAS is a plus



  • Actuarial Analyst will work closely with underwriters to review and price program business for all lines of business
  • Actuarial Analyst will support AUI claim department
  • collect and analyze claim data from Loss Runs and internal systems
  • develop claim metrics
  • Actuarial Analyst will assist in data collection and dissemination of results to underwriters and senior management
  • Maintain communication with compliance, claims, and UW departments on the various actuarial issues including but not limited to filing and costing issues, ILF and trend updates
  • Be responsible for on-time completion of requests from claim and underwriting departments
  • Work on franchise-specific and global actuarial research projects regarding pricing and planning.



  • None at this stage, though will gain responsibility in future; experience helpful



  • 3-5 years of property-casualty commercial insurance experience, preferably in primary company pricing or reserving unit.
  • Strong analytical and communication skill are a must
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, VB for applications, and SQL.
  • Business knowledge should include, but not be limited to basic accounting, finance, and insurance market place.


  • Some actuarial exams or ACAS
  • BS, BA or higher in mathematics preferred


  • English required; foreign languages a benefit.



  • BS, BA or higher in mathematics preferred
  • Predictive modeling experience is helpful, but not necessary
