POSITION SUMMARY

 Our fast paced design team within a studio environment needs an Art Production Specialist to successfully prepare, release and archive their high-end —award winning packaging, literature, and Point of Purchase for multiple outputs. Have you successfully prepared packaging jobs with cmyk + 3 spot including a metallic transparency in InDesign to print? Are you the guru that your 10 or so design co-workers go to for your experience and diplomacy in trouble-shooting a file to print to a plotter or upload to a website correctly? Are you use to successfully preparing and releasing print jobs that others have designed to push the envelope on the capabilities of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator? Do you also have specific experience in effectively communicating printing specifications with international suppliers? If you’re all this plus you’re inherently detail oriented and have proven technical skills in digital asset archive management, then we may be the perfect fit for you.   

The Art Production Specialist will be responsible for successful pre-press and print, as well as file preparation for web projects and digital asset management within the Marketing Department. They will ensure quality controlled, timely and effective production of materials. They will help to create and administer policies and procedures applicable to quality, efficient and profitable operations. They will work closely with the Art Supervisor and Production Artists. They will report to Creative Services Manager, Marketing Leadership Team.                                   

A successful candidate will have 3+ years of relevant Art Production Specialist responsibility (including sending jobs to print overseas) as well as the experience, interest, skills and talent for digital asset management.

                                                                           POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES         The Art Production Specialist will:

Ensure the quality and accuracy of all print material

Utilize -Adobe CS Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress and other pre-press production tools to consistently prepare files for release to pre-press

Archive new as well as existing digital art assets in a strategic and accessible fashion

Proof pre-press proofs (ie; Kodak color approvals…)

Travel off site independently as needed for press checks

Coordinate and execute a plan for effective distribution and archive of all outputs in all forms (server, web, DVD, CD, hard drive)

PERFORMANCE METRICS         The incumbent’s performance will be assessed on their:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and personalities

Ability to maintain and improve upon our digital assessment management system; must have exceptional organizational abilities

Diligence in maintaining their skills with specified computerized graphic design programs.

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Adobe InDesign, (QuarkXpress)

Ability to multi-task between a wide variety of projects while meeting deadlines

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE     The successful candidate will have the following experience or knowledge in the following areas:

  • A Graphic Art College degree and no less than 5 years of computer graphic design or equivalent pre-press experience
  • Advanced Adobe Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress skills
  • Pre-flight or equivalent pre-press software knowledge
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and proficiency
  • Examples of processes they have helped to create 
  • Pre-Press/File release to printer work experience in a professional, fast-paced, flexible environment
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication both written and verbal

EDUCATION       

Bachelors degree required and/or equivalent work experience
