Description Position: Medical Assistant
Location: Community Health Center Clinic
Billings, MT
Status: Full-time
Non-Exempt (hourly), schedule in 5 eight hour days working every other Saturday (closed Sunday)

Reports To: RN Supervisor

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to provide quality, preventive and comprehensive care. As part of a family practice clinic team, you will perform a variety of administrative and medical support duties in the treatment of patients. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication as it relates to patients, families, co-workers, physicians and others. Core duties include greeting patients and collecting necessary medical information to add to the electronic medical record such as height, weight, blood pressure, and medical history. Other duties include maintaining patient charts, maintaining supply rooms, scheduling visits and follow-up appointments for patients, setting up sterile instrument trays for physician for use in procedures as necessary, and cleaning room as appropriate after examination. The Medical Assistant also assists in reviewing and forwarding patient phone calls and acts as a back up to the lab and x-ray (if x-ray certified).

SUMMARY – The employee in this position performs a variety of administrative and medical support duties in the treatment of patients.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Greets patients, collects necessary medical information from them, and enters it into the computer system.
2. Takes client height, weight, blood pressure, and medical history.
3. Maintains patient charts, including preparing all necessary documentation for appointments and signing, dating, and verifying completed documentation for completeness and accuracy.
4. Maintains supply rooms. Ensures supplies are in stock and requisitions supplies as needed.
5. Schedules visits and follow-up visits for patients.
6. Sets up sterile instrument trays for physician for use in procedures as necessary.
7. Cleans room as appropriate after examination.
8. When assigned, monitors phone MA line to review and forward patient phone calls to the appropriate staff person/provider
9. Various assignments may include lab coverage, x-ray coverage (if certified x-ray).
10. Recognizes and educates staff that managing patient care is a team effort that involves clinical and nonclinical staff (e.g. physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, medical assistants, educators, front desk staff, schedulers, etc) interacting with patients to achieve stated objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Experience in a medical clinic setting; or
2. Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. Medical Assistant experience strongly desired.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
1. Medical Assistant certification preferred
