Description

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, one of the five largest free-standing behavioral health providers in the country, is seeking psychiatrists with experience and expertise in working with patients experiencing Perinatal Mood Disorders (PMD) in outpatient or inpatient psychiatric settings. Our community has identified psychiatric needs in PMD care and this position would allow the psychiatrist to have a focused practice in PMD care along with other adults in a varied case mix. PMD care is offered in our inpatient and outpatient settings. Also, the position would be able to help shape new PMD care in the community with an active PMD community based team. This position would be highly valued by and connected to area OB and other physicians and healthcare entities serving the PMD patient.

As part of the medical schools expansion, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine will have its headquarters in Grand Rapids beginning fall of 2010, joining 14 other colleges and universities that call West Michigan home. Pine Rest has been designated to be the Division of Psychiatry for the MSU Grand Rapids entity. Pine Rest psychiatrists receive faculty appointment by MSU as adjunct assistant professors.

Pine Rest also has outpatient locations throughout West Michigan and in Pella and Des Moines, Iowa. Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services offers a competitive compensation package, comprehensive benefits, and is an equal opportunity employer. West Michigan is home to numerous natural wonders including the sugar-sand beaches of Lake Michigan, swimming, golfing, boating biking and sightseeing.

Grand Rapids offers a friendly, welcoming environment for families as well as singles and couples. The city features a bustling downtown with restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, museums and sports venues. Despite its size, Grand Rapids prides itself on small town virtues such as friendly neighborhoods, safe streets, minimal traffic and Midwestern values.

Position Requirements

Board certification is preferred, specialty training, interest and experience in PMD care is highly desired. Qualified candidates must possess a current license to practice in Michigan at the time of appointment.
