Substitute Program Aide - Days - Butler, PA 


This position covers for vacancies, vacations, sickness and other leaves of absence in the geriatric day program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist program participants with one on one and group activities, exercises, music sessions, memory stimulation, craft projects, etc.
  • Assist participants with direct care, including but not limited to: feeding, toileting, grooming, mobility, and hygiene.
  • Coordinate meal preparation, delivery and clean up.
  • Assist participants with boarding and exiting buses, vans, etc., and entering and exiting the Center as necessary.
  • Provide input to the Activities Coordinator for the development and implementation of activities
  • Report observations of participants to Supervisor or Nurse for assessment.
  • Maintain routine participant records, including but not limited: arrival/departure times, meal counts, and housekeeping supplies.
  • Assist with coordinating special events, scheduling presenters, and developing the monthly newsletter.

Drive/operate various Agency vehicles as required.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED and at least one year of related experience in working with individuals in a health care or social services setting.
  • Must have current ACT 33 and ACT 34 clearances prior to start.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license which legally permits operating a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 200 pounds with assistance.
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Respond calmly in emergency situations.
  • Work with aggressive, violent and diverse behaviors.
  • Maintain an understanding and sympathetic attitude toward the program participants.
