Associate Enterprise Engineer

JOB TITLE: Enterprise Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: The Enterprise Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and support of local and wide area networks (LANS/WANS) and associated applications. He/she supports the customer by maintaining and improving the network infrastructure. The Enterprise Engineer installs, configures, upgrades, troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves problems at an advanced level on local and wide area networks (LANS/WANS) and on shared network devices. He/she is at a mid-level position, which requires some thought leadership and mentoring capabilities.


  • Installs, configures, upgrades, troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves problems at an advanced level on servers and shared network devices; troubleshoots and resolves software and hardware problems on basic networks
  • Administers a minimum of one (1) Network Operating System, such as Linux, AIX and Microsoft Windows 2003/2008.
  • Administers, configures and installs a minimum of one (1) brand of switches, routers and firewall appliances, such as Cisco and HP.
  • Provides accurate and timely data (time reports, warranty verification, etc.) as required.
  • Responds to all calls and pages per current response guidelines/commitments.
  • Provides on-call after-hours support to contracted clients.
  • Resolves client satisfaction issues to the client’s expectations, or escalates, if necessary, to management.
  • Reports business opportunities to the proper internal resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of trade secrets, proprietary information, etc.
  • Maintains SARCOM's attendance requirements and follows all SARCOM policies and procedures. Attendance and following SARCOM's policies and procedures are an essential function of this position
  • Other duties as assigned




Position Requirements







  • College or technical education or minimum three (3) years' experience within networking environments.


Work Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in computer support, including two (2) years' network infrastructure support.



Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of server software and bus structures, peripherals, controllers, technologies and architectural designs
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of networking theory, topologies and associated active and passive components
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of system deliverables such as installs, de-installs, upgrades, performance tuning, diagnostics and troubleshooting routines
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of shared network devices deliverables such as shared print devices and queues, fax, modems, and scanners
  • Minimum of two (2) years' network operating system experience including administration skill and deliverables
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of personal computer and workstation operating systems
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of network communication protocols
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding and ability to perform administrative management skills on electronic mail system packages
  • Demonstrated a basic understanding and ability to use network troubleshooting test equipment
  • Demonstrated a basic knowledge of network planning, design, implementation and maintenance theory and practical use



  • Advanced certification in at least one of the following: Microsoft MCSE, Novell CNE, CISCO CCNA or equivalent.
