Position Summary:

This position requires a field service technician capable of working independently or in teams on diesel or gaseous-fueled power generation equipment.  Requirements include comprehensive technical and electrical-mechanical skills.  Reports to Regional Asset Manager

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs scheduled maintenance, troubleshoots, and repairs controls, switchgear and accessories such as batteries, battery chargers, heaters, motor and pumps.
  • Performs mechanical troubleshooting and repairs for fuel delivery, ignition, lube oil, cooling, and exhaust systems as well as engine and component repairs.
  • Performs electrical troubleshooting and problem solving requiring strong AC/DC power skills, ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical contactors, motors, relays, contacts, generator components, and controls
  • Has ability, or willingness to learn, to work with PLC’s, relays, digital/analog inputs-outputs
  • Fuel tank maintenance and inspections
  • Electronic monitoring equipment maintenance
  • Recurring equipment inspections and preventive maintenance reporting
  • Responding to monitoring alarms and trouble-shooting equipment during utility load control periods and scheduled equipment exercise periods
  • Keeping generation and ancillary equipment in proper working condition

 

 

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Must have good oral, written, and inter-personal skills.
  • Be capable of learning, working independently, exhibiting common sense and good judgment and value safety. 
  • Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience either in power generation service, industrial mechanical-electrical troubleshooting and repairs, or marine engineering. 
  • Technical school, related military technical, electrical or mechanical engineering degrees, or maritime engineering backgrounds will be preferred.
  • Subject to D.O.T. drug and/or alcohol testing requirements

Working Conditions:

  • Customer sites and some shop work.
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid Driver’s License.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.).
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities, such as starting batteries, etc.
