The Marketing Analytics Consultant III is responsible for assessing the monthly performance and the financial forecast of the C&I Portfolio to ensure that all assumptions and modeling are reasonable and accurate.  The individual will also be expected to provide monthly performance analysis and review key performance drivers related to delivering Annual Operating Plan financial requirements.  The role requires a blend of analytical skills as well as leadership/influencing skills and the ability to stay ahead of, as well as anticipate, business needs in a fast-paced environment. The individual will interface with marketing, sales, supply management, risk and structuring and marketing analytics groups.  A high degree of initiative and capability to work independently and cross-functionally is a required aspect of this job as well as strong interpersonal communication skills.


  • Provide monthly sales performance analysis to management.
  • Support monthly financial forecast updates and ad-hoc analytical assessments.
  • Ensure all assumptions and modeling are reasonable and accurate.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and continue to improve forecast models and processes.
  • Conduct forecast variance analysis and provide explanations of actual to budget and forecast variances and year-over-year results comparisons of customer/meter counts, load, revenue and margin.
  • Provide analytical support and ‘ad hoc’ analysis to allow sales management team to make informed business decisions.
  • Verify deal economics and profitability.
  • Provide analytical support to other groups within the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements

  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills to conduct financial and economic analysis.
  • Solid statistical modeling education and training plus practical modeling experience in a large data scale environment.
  • Attention to detail in analytical assessments; thrives on developing and maintaining high quality reports and assessments and considers effects of decision in upstream or downstream information flows.
  • A high degree of initiative and capability to work independently and cross-functionally is a required aspect of this job as well as strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and effectively in fast-paced, pressure environment with ability to adapt quickly to new and/or changing situations without compromising integrity or quality of initiative.
  • Superior problem solving/analytical skills with strong attention to details; ability to identify and implement new processes for efficiencies and enhanced controls.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills; resilience and tenacity to juggle multiple competing interests and drive to a resolution.
  • Proven commitment to delivering projects on time.
  • Ability to follow through to resolve issues.


  • An understanding of Energy Market and Financial Fundamentals (NYMEX pricing, Gas Futures, Real Time Power, NPV, payback, cash flow forecasting)
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills including proficiency of Microsoft Excel; strong use of Microsoft Access, SAS SQL and relational databases
  • Solid understanding of the use and interpretation of graduate-level multivariate statistical techniques and sampling methods, such as multi-variants regression, ANOVA, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and main components analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex analytic results and develop practical business implications.
  • Excellent communication skills; including strong verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively listen
  • Must be able to work effectively in an independent environment without daily supervision
  • Capable of working in a team environment which includes coordinate and facilitate activities across groups
  • Must be a proven self-starter—High integrity, energy, enthusiasm, and tenacity

Position Requirements


A BS/BA from an accredited four-year college or university is required; preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Mathematics or other quantitative major


Minimum 2 years of work experience in the energy industry is required; preferably in business/financial analyst role.  Position may be filled at various levels depending on candidate qualifications such as experience and technical skills.

  • Ability to work on a computer in a seated position and use telephone and other office equipment
