Description

General Purpose:

Safely and accurately pull orders according to the customers’ paperwork and place the order in the correct location for pickup and/or delivery in a timely manner.  Hours for this position will be from 6:00am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Essential Functions/Areas of Responsibility:

  • Read/understand orders on a daily basis
  • Prioritize customer orders daily
  • Operate forklift, man lift, overhead crane according to O'Neal Flat Rolled Metals procedure
  • Place boxes and steel sheets on skids for packaging and shipping
  • Locate correct material and move to appropriate area for shipping or customer pick-up
  • Assist with loading trucks
  • Utilize Stelplan to complete paperwork verifying correct shipping
  • Wrap boxes in shrink wrap for shipping
  • Band material on skids
  • Assist other employees as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in company training on Safety, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne pathogens, accident reporting and others
  • Participate actively in LEAN events
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective equipment: steel toe boots, safety  glasses, gloves and arm guards 
 
Position Requirements

Experience:

6 months experience working shipping equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred Forklift experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders, directions, safety and procedure manuals
  • Ability to be an effective communicator with the sales department for specific customer requirements or to verify quality acceptance from customer
  • Basic knowledge of sales orders
  • Ability to follow directions and to apply common sense in determining causes of late delivery
  • Knowledge of various hand tools, measuring and guiding devices
  • Knowledge of gauges, dials, pedals and other indicators on machinery
  • Ability to perform basic math skills, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form to complete shipping tickets and communicate equipment problems, safety issues, and/or quality issues to appropriate personnel using the knowledge structure and content of the English Language
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in order or pattern according to specific rules or set of rules
  • Ability to see details at near and far range
