Convert Customer drawings, templates, DXF files and blue prints into programs to produce parts according to customer specifications and to nest these parts to obtain maximum material and machine utilization.

 Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:


·         Analyzes drawings, sketches, tolerances, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, and machine speeds and feed rates.

·         Ability to use a wide variety of CAD, CNC programming, microsoft, and other software packages.

·         Provides CNC programming and nesting for all lasers and CNC programming for all other relevant machines and equipment.

·         Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control data base to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.

·         Create CAD files of customer parts.

·         Converts and plots customer drawings.

·         Reviews program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.

·         Observes operation of machine on trial run if needed to prove programmed instructions.

·         Coordinates with software vendors for updates, training, problems, and enhancements.

·         Coordinates with the production and scheduling department.

·         Determines most efficient nesting of single and multiple part nests

·         Provides information to help with quoting of customer product.

·         Basic typing skills.

·         Must be able to work independently and check own work.


Position Requirements

Required Skills:  To qualify for consideration an applicant must possess the following skills.  Possession of these skills is a prerequisite for employment.

Education and language:  speak conversational English.

Special Skills (above average skill required):  must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints,  communication (oral and written), interpersonal skills, interdepartmental coordination, coping with difficulties and emergencies, personnel practices. Additional Skills:  able to concentrate and maintain productivity in high pressure situations.

Physical Requirements: kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, repetitive motions.

Desirable Skills:  The following skills are considered important to this position but may be learned or completed on the job.  Applicants will not be eliminated from consideration if they do not possess these skills.

Office Equipment:  computer literacy in Windows Operating System, parts programming/nesting,  Type 40 words per minute.  Computer literacy with regards to the O’Neal system. 

Prior Experience:  Complete courses in Lantek, AutoCad and Blue Print Reading. 

Additional Skills:  Working knowledge of plasma cutting, laser cutting, press brake forming, and 5 axis.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to communicate effectively and productively with co-workers.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Educational Requirements

Desirable Skills: Complete courses in AutoCad and Blue Print Reading.
