Plant Manager - Custom Culinary, Inc. Avon, OH

The Plant Manager is responsible for all facets of the day to day operation of the manufacturing facility including optimizing Cost, Quality, Service, Safety, and Morale at the Plant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops plans for cost effective use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Ensures that safe and quality product is produced on schedule to meet customer demands in compliance with USDA guidelines.
  • Responsible for the coordination and review of specific functional area BRC criteria.  Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required. Provide employee training as needed. Ensure Food products meet safety, quality and legal requirements.
  • Ensures plant safety goals are met.
  • Direct the workforce in maintaining, operating and sanitizing a liquid hot-fill facility.
  • Ensures the Plant complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Responsible for the Talent Management of the plant staff including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • Manages 5 staff members who oversee approximately 30 employees in the Mixing, Packaging, Shipping, Maintenance, Scheduling, and Purchasing departments.
  • Manages $3.5 Million Plant Operating Budget


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or ten years manufacturing management experience.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SSOP, BRC, SQF, BRC, FDA and USDA (FSIS) guidelines essential.
  • Working knowledge of 3rd party food inspections, food safety requirements, and machine maintenance and sanitation procedures critical.
  • Hands-on supply chain experience with ERP systems, warehousing and inventory control a plus.
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.  Ability to calculate and understand business indices.                                
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Access database software; Explorer internet software, Word processing software, Excel spreadsheet software, and Adage/MicroSoft DAX ERP software.
