Technical Services Specialist - Custom Culinary, Inc. 

  • Provide support for the Avon and Oswego Quality Systems Teams, and the Corporate Regulatory Compliance Manager.
  • Develop and manage an internal Quality Systems Auditing program
    • Avon, Oswego, Medina and Lombard sites
    • Annual audit cycle covering all BRC sections
    • Schedule and lead audits
    • Facilitate and track gap closure
  • Coordinate QS related training with HR and Operations, create training materials and provide training on key topics.
  • Assure continuity of plant operations by backfilling absences of key personnel in QS and Regulatory.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Quality Systems and Operations organization by:
  • Managing QS projects
  • Leading FSQS improvement initiatives
  • Converting raw data into usable information
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Facilitating problem solving efforts
  • Scanning the industry for best practices, new research and emerging technology.
  • Identifying future improvement opportunities
  • Develop Q KPI Performance Reporting to drive continuous improvement.
  • Will influence data base design and structure
  • Monitor and proactively facilitate compliance to data base management protocols.
  • Coordinates document editing, numbering and organization in Quality Manual and other document management data bases.
  • This role will coordinate the maintenance of our QS Information systems: Quality Manual, GMS, CAPA, VNC’s, etc.

Assures all products manufactured and distributed meet food safety, quality and legal requirements for both source and destination locations.

  • This position requires extensive technical and operational expertise.
    • Complete understanding of BRC requirements
    • Auditing of sites to BRC GSFS Standard
    • Perform key laboratory technician functions in Oswego.
  • Perform key Regulatory Dept. job functions including label reviews, ingredient statement creation and review, Halal, MSDA, range formulas, nutritional information, COO information, etc.
  • Familiarity with USDA and FDA regulatory and product labeling requirements.
  • Ability to manage projects / drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to create and interpret data
  • Thorough understanding of plant production and operations practices, procedures and protocols.
  • Lead specific projects related to QS and Regulatory Departments.
  • Consolidate, analyze and report key performance indicators (ex. customer complaints, holds, non-conformances).

Other activities as directed by the Plant Quality Manager, Regulatory Compliance Manager or Director of Quality Systems.



Position Requirements
  • Education:  B.S. in Food Science or related field from a 4 year institution.  BBA with Food Manufacturing experience can replace.
  • Experience:  3-5 years Food Manufacturing experience
  • Auditing experience and / or certification (ex. CQA)
  • Basic knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations pertaining to raw materials, including applications and labeling.
