Senior Financial Accounting Analyst - Salaried, 1st/Variable

The purpose of the Project Accountant position is to provide special accounting assistance as set forth in the detailed job description.


Duty 1: General ledger maintenance: Responsible for assigned areas of the general ledger:  including preparing schedules & journal entries, analyzing/reconciling assigned accounts in a timely manner, and  ensuring compliance with accounting regulations & procedures.

Duty 2: Month end close and financial reporting: Responsible for assigned areas of planning, communication, monitoring and execution of month-end financial closing and reporting (internal and external) process.

Duty 3: Process Improvements: Identifies area(s) within the department for process or productivity improvements. Develops plan to implement appropriate changes and executes as deemed necessary.

Duty 4: Tax Compliance: Accurate and timely preparation of Forms 990 and other assigned tax filings and compliance. Including but not limited to assigning duties to others, monitoring progress, developing work plans, identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives, etc.

Duty 5: Year End Audit: Accurate and timely preparation/analysis of assigned year-end work papers as needed by external auditors. Assists with preparation of audited financial statements.

Duty 6: Compliance Reporting: Accurate and timely filing of compliance related reports as required on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.

Duty 7: Foundation Accounting: Accountable for timely and accurate reporting of Blanchard Valley Health Foundation (BVHF) financial activity. Development and delivery of appropriate financial reports related to BVHF activity, serving as the Finance representative for BVHF financial recording and reporting.

Duty 8: Cost Reports: Timely and accurate completion of cost report related activities as assigned.

Duty 9: Reporting Projects & Ad-Hoc Report Requests: Utilize FRX software, Cost Accounting Software, and Microsoft Office Software to meet special project and variance analysis needs. Utilize system skills to develop and/or improve reporting, communication, and/or processing time.

Duty 10: Board Presentations & Management Presentations: On a monthly basis, accurate and timely completion of presentations for the board and for management.

Duty 11: Responsible for monthly, quarterly, & annual filings related to debt financing (banks, bond counsel, etc.)

Duty 12: Responsible for review and analysis of Blanchard Valley Medical Practice (BVMP) financial results. Provide assistance to BVMP entities as appropriate.

Duty 13: Assist with annual budgeting process & forecasting metrics: including but not limited to generating budgets for assigned areas, assisting others in the preparation of their budgets, and analyzing overall budgets for the organization.

Position Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration with Accounting or Finance major preferred
  • CPA certification or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in a financial environment required; 2+ years of health care or 4+ years of non-health care experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of auditing and accounting principles, practices, laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative the their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures.



This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity or simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement.
