Senior Patient Accounting Specialist

Description

This position is asked to perform primary and secondary billing functions and account follow up for all Home Health and Hospice payers.  In addition to billing, the position is required to keep current on all regulatory changes for Medicare Home Health and Hospice billing and reimbursement.  Required to understand the relationship of not only the billing system but how the accounts receivable, revenues, contractual allowances and bad debts relate to our financial statements and provide meaningful revenue reporting back to Reimbursement Manager.

Responsible to follow up on all delinquent accounts and work with patients and families to establish affordable payment plans.

Participate in compliance meetings as it relates to billing and reimbursement issues and make necessary changes to systems or billing processes to stay within regulations. 

 
Position Requirements

Associates Degree in accounting or finance and/or relevant experience with specific healthcare billing experience required.  Must be detail oriented and have the ability to solve problems that involve numbers or complex issues that require understanding of compliance and regulations.  Proven leadership skills required that show the ability to lead individuals and develop relationships outside of the department to achieve optimal results.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, and billing systems and possess the ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with personnel, patients, visitors and the general public.
