Medical Director 


Provides supervision, consultation and leadership to promote the delivery of clinical services which meet high standards for quality and effectiveness.  This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Conducts and documents on-going clinical supervision consistent with Comprehensive’s policies and procedures, and consistent with the requirements for the employee’s professional credentials. Assesses clinical skills, gives constructive feedback, and provides (or arranges for) training and coaching to promote the development of technical skills, therapeutic approaches, and strength-based interventions appropriate for the client population served.consistent with job requirements.
  • Team Leader duties include but are not limited to providing direction, training and guidance. Clarifies assignments, goals and objectives. Creates structures, systems and processes, which encourage ongoing, successful innovation. Coaches, counsels and provides performance feedback as well as evaluating staff using current performance review system. Develops and monitors the budget.
  • Provides direct clinical and administrative supervision of Medical Services staff, including all physicians employed or contracted by CWCMH as well as assigned nursing staff. 
  • Develops, implements and oversees execution of critical clinical issues and procedures. Provides input to enhance the function of quality assurance and utilization review activities. 
  • Participates in CWCMH Acute Care/Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital psychiatric on call system as necessary.  Provides care for patients admitted to YVMH psychiatric unit when appropriate. Develops protocols for and provides after hours consultation to staff as required. 
  • Provides medical/psychiatric leadership in refining CWCMH psychiatric emergency services.  Establishes psychiatric hospital alternative programs.  Works closely with other organizations in caring for persons in crisis.
  • Serves as primary liaison to the medical communities of Yakima, Kittitas and Klickitat Counties, including hospitals and community-based physicians.
  • Works with Division Directors and Teams in identifying problem areas impacting quality of care and in designing and implementing corrective action plans.  Assists in developing new programs and mental health services that are responsive to client/community needs, clinically effective and financially viable. 
  • Participates in short and long term strategic planning for the agency and participates in developing goals and objectives for division, programs and services to attain strategic goals.  Routinely reports to leadership team and CEO regarding status of strategic plans, issues and opportunities.
  • Develops, implements, and refines a model of clinical leadership which promotes competence and collaboration as the basis for helping multidisciplinary work groups to function optimally.  Assures that clients receive appropriate evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Ensures appropriate standards of medical treatment are maintained throughout the agency.
  • Manages all fiscal, administrative, clinical and operational aspects of the defined division or area of responsibility.
  • Provides consultation and in-service training.  Assists in the design and implementation of clinical staff development and staff training activities.

Professional Credentials: Washington State Physician and Surgeon License, Federal DEA Certification

Other Credentials Required: First Aid/CPR Certification, Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
