Position Summary:

Reviewing electronic charts for any documentation errors to stay compliant with payer and government standards. Making providers aware of any issues to prevent coding errors in the future. Reviewing all claims with coding type denials and making any necessary corrections based on medical documentation.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing and correcting all high level charges for all MedExpress regions.
  • Responsible for performing new and annual provider and midlevel audits.
  • Responsible for educating and training providers and midlevels on coding/compliance issues.
  • Responsible for pulling, preparing, and sending charts for insurance audits.
  • Responsible for pulling any charts needed for the Legal department.
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:

  • Must be a certified professional coder (CPC) with 3-5 years experience and extensive knowledge of E&M coding preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and must be self-driven.
  • Knowledge of IDX and Athena or other similar billing software, Microsoft Word, Office and Excel, and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with providers and midlevels as well as other MedExpress team members.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, with the ability to meet project deadlines and work under pressure.

Working Conditions

Non-Center Based. Requires: the ability to sit at a computer for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping) and travel to Centers (if so, the noise level is moderate and there is potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens).
